Spiritual direction
Spiritual Direction is about holding space, together, to notice and name the work of God in ordinary life. The soul who has a sense of being drawn more deeply toward experiencing God will find a companion for the journey here. The seasons of life -- longing, restlessness, grief, abundance, change -- are all at home in the desire to explore them in the intimate presence of God.
My way of practicing direction is based in a wholehearted belief that God is active now in your life, that Jesus is still asking the tender question He so often asked as He encountered people in His life on Earth, "What do you want me to do for you?" His movements toward you reflect His love for you. He is delighted as you experience and respond to Him.
We often uncover more than we expect when we express aloud our stories and interior rumblings. Today's culture leaves little room for uninterrupted, agenda-free exploring of our deeper desires and longings. You are invited to sit with God regarding those movements of your heart. The Director acts as a sounding board, noticing themes and attentive to the promptings of the Spirit as you pay attention to the ways in which you may (or may not) be experiencing Him. The time is given to that which is bubbling up in you, not to problem solve, but to be met by Him in it.
A direction meeting is usually an hour once a month. We will utilize spiritual practices like silence, guided prayer, and ways of being with Scripture to become present to God as He is present with us. It is a sacred time that might flow into your daily life as you notice the rhythms that draw you closer to God in ordinary moments.
My practice is based in the Christian Trinitarian tradition, and ecumenical in nature. I maintain strict confidentiality. I will not offer you my personal opinion nor sit in any kind of judgment. This space is held for you, and is intended to be a refuge of peace and life.

Offering Spiritual Direction is both a delight and a vocation for me. I do accept payment for my time, if it is not a hardship for you. My standard fee is $50 per individual 60 minute session. However, I never want issues of payment to keep you from experiencing the benefits of this time; if this is the case, please tell me. I'm located in the south metro of Minneapolis, and have also found Zoom to work well if I am not local to you.
